Psychedelics & Ecological Medicine: The Sacred Path of Reconnecting with Nature

Michael Makhinson, Coakee William Wildcat, Stephanie Michael Stewart

Separation and disconnection lie at the root of both personal and collective illness. Psychedelics have the power to reconnect us to ourselves, to each other, and to the living world, and research shows that nature connectedness improves mental health and fosters a deeper sense of purpose. Yet, true transformation requires more than individual insight; it demands cultural and scientific humility, profound respect, ecological love and responsibility. For marginalized communities, returning to land is a form of justice and sovereignty. This talk explores how psychedelic experiences can inspire a renewed sense of stewardship and how devotion to land, and our human and non-human communities can potentially heal inseparable human and ecological wounds. Ultimately, we are called to remember that we are nature, and from this knowing, walk a daily sacred path rooted in reciprocity, kinship, and collective liberation.
