Materialism, Metaphysics and the Mystical Experience

Humanity has puzzled about the nature of reality since the time of Plato. Psychedelics have added to the complexity of this inquiry with reports about ontological shock and events that are “realer than real”. Current research documents that psychedelics can permanently alter our metaphysical framework. Beyond this, a mystical experience also appears to provide durable benefit to mental and emotional health. This presentation will explore how a basic human emotion may help us to make sense of these disparate elements as they come together in the practice of psychedelic medicine.
