Integrating Science, Tradition, and Community into Global Public Health

Julia Urrutia, Veronica Magar

Global health urgently requires a strengthened approach to address rising rates of mental health conditions and substance use disorders. This presentation introduces an approach specifically designed for low- and middle-income countries that integrates psychedelics into public health, alongside indigenous healing practices and mind-body traditions. This approach includes creating a global network of stakeholders, conducting multi-country research efforts, and advocating for policy and governance reforms that ensure the inclusion of indigenous health rights, ethical standards, community-based approaches, and responsible drug regulation, all tailored to specific cultural contexts.
