Educating the next generation of psychedelic practitioners

Address: Dr. Phelps will present an overview of the current status of training strategies for licensed and unlicensed practitioners. in psychedelic-assisted interventions. Details will be shared about the academic standards typically held by universities, those of research teams, and those being attempted in decriminalization regions such as Oregon and Colorado. Essentials such as psychedelic studies content coverage, experiential learning, and ethical guidelines will be emphasized. The immediacy for training in the critical analysis of our research data, ethical guidelines, cultural humility values and skills, trauma-informed methods, and somatic techniques will be discussed. This presentation is a platform from which the panel members will provide further details from their perspectives. Panel: The presence of a skilled psychedelic facilitator and the establishment of rapport are key elements in the positive therapeutic outcomes.
