Psychedelic Policy at a Crossroads: The Science, the Story, and the Systems

Shereef Elnahal, Krista Tippett, Amelia Bergman, Rachel Yehuda

As interest in psychedelic therapies grows, the conversation needs to shift from promise to practice. The hope and coalition for these emerging treatment options transcends traditional cultural and political divides. This panel brings together voices with unique perspectives—from the trenches of clinical research and practice; the arena of federal policy and politics; and the real-world challenges of implementing new treatments at scale in public systems— to engage with some of the most important questions of the moment: What does it take to make these therapies accessible, effective and safe? How do current policies help or hinder progress? How do we navigate the tension between scientific evidence, patient advocacy. and public perception? What is truly needed to make psychedelic healing a sustainable part of our mental health landscape, and beyond policymakers, who else needs to be at the table?
